BUDAPEST, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Hungary's David Nagy snatched the men's epee title at the FIE Westend Grand Prix, helping the host nation secure one gold and and one silver medal as the three-day competition concluded here on Sunday.

In the men's event, Nagy, 26, came from behind to defeat Kazakhstan's Yerlik Sertay 15-12 in the final, held at the Papp Laszlo Budapest Sports Arena in front of a home crowd.

Nagy, ranked 27th in the world, trailed by 10-5 at the second break before reducing the gap and moving ahead in the final period to secure the victory.

En route to the final, Nagy had defeated Italy's Matteo Galassi and Austria's Alexander Biro, then beat reigning Olympic and world champion Koki Kano of Japan in the quarterfinals and Doha Grand Prix winner Tristan Tulen of the Netherlands in the semifinals.

Ranked 36th in the world, Sertay advanced to the final by defeating world No. 2 Gergely Siklosi of Hungary in the round of 16, and then Czechia's Jakub Jurka and Switzerland's Ian Hauri in the semifinals.

The bronze medals were shared by Tulen and Hauri. China's Huang Yuxuan finished 30th, while Zhang Xinkun and Yang Fengming placed 59th and 60th respectively.

In the women's event, Estonia's Katrina Lehis, world No.3, edged Hungary's Muhari Eszter 12-11 in the final, reversing the result of their meeting in Doha three months ago.

Lehis, 31, won the silver medal at the Doha Grand Prix in late January. Muhari, 23, ranked seventh in the world, won gold at the Doha event earlier this year.

France's Auriane Mallo-Breton and Latvia's Sofija Prosina shared the bronze medals. China's Li Shanshan finished eighth, while Yang Jingwen and Xu Nuo placed 26th and 41st respectively.

South Korea's Song Sera, current world number one, finished ninth, and Italy's Giulia Rizzi, world number two, placed 33rd.

A total of 282 athletes competed in the women's event and 352 in the men's competition.
