BEIJING, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.76 percent to 4,082.13 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.55 percent higher at 14,966.75 points.

The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 2.58 trillion yuan (about 375.63 billion U.S. dollars), up from 2.43 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to commercial aerospace, fiber optics, liquid cooling servers and data centers led the gains, while those related to education, salt lake lithium extraction, batteries and property sectors led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.02 percent to close at 3,677.58 points Monday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.73 percent higher at 1,857.48 points. ■
