BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Vehicles conducting illegal car-hailing services in Beijing will be impounded, and their drivers severely fined, according to a new regulation passed by the city's legislature on Thursday.

Driving licences of drivers who are caught violating the regulation twice and more will be suspended for three to six months.

The regulation, which will take effect from July 1, demonstrates even tougher oversight of the city's car-hailing services.

In December 2016, the city's transport authorities issued regulations that featured a number of restrictions concerning drivers' household registration, car plate, vehicle model, age, and insurance. Starting last May, platforms and drivers without licenses would not be able to provide car-hailing services in Beijing.
