PHNOM PENH, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia supports China's necessary measures to maintain peace, order and security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Cambodia respects the one-China policy, and regards the ongoing situation in Hong Kong as domestic affairs of the People's Republic of China, the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement issued on Saturday.

"Cambodia supports necessary measures of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to maintain peace, public order, national security, social cohesiveness and harmony in accordance with its domestic laws and regulations as well as international practice," it said.

The statement added that Cambodia wishes to see an early return to normalcy for all the Hong Kong people.
